Rasta album cover!💚💛❤

Task description: For inquiry, room 3 had to make a rasta! You had the choice to work indivdually or with a partner! I partnered up with Mikyrah and we worked together to make our very own Rasta album cover! We first were so dumbfounded since we didn’t really know what to do at first. But in the end we worked together and finished it! Do you know what the colours in the rasta flag mean? The green means the land and their connections, red generally means blood and lastly the yellow typically means the sun! My Nana told me that the green is the land which is like grass, the yellow meaning the sun and the red as blood. (which is literally what I told you…)  Please leave a positive comment, thank you!

Me and my Matariki activities

Today on the 26th June Team four got to do some activities for Matariki but on the 24th June Team four had to fill in some forms on what the TWO activities we wanted to do on wednesday (the 26th June).

My choices were sports and arts.

We then went to the big mat in the year 6 space and we were waiting for what our first rotation was going to be.

My first rotation was sports, I was happy to be playing sports, Miss Tuia was in charge of doing sports, I was getting excited to play sports.

When all the names were called out for the sports rotation we then left with Miss Tuia to play some sports.

I was wondering which sports we were gonna play.

When me and my rotation group got to the field we then had to sit on room 18’s benches and squash together if there was no space left.

Miss Tuia then told us that we were gonna play capture the flag, I didn’t know how to play but I have heard the name “Capture the flag”, she then told us the rules on how “Capture the flag” worked.

It started to sound pretty easy when she said that “The safe zone areas are the jails for the green/yellow team and in your team zone also when you get the ball/flag from the other teams side, you can’t drop the rugby ball or then it’s passover, your team can come save you from jail but you have to hold hands until you get to the end of your team’s safe zone but if  someone from the other team tags one of you then all of you go back to jail, you can front pass or a back pass, you can pass the ball while you are still in jail.

And we then got into teams (I was on team green)and she told us where the team area is, the positions were Defend and attack, I was a defender for my team, we were having practice rounds and during those practices NONE of us got a score.

Then finally the yellow team got a score by bringing our ball to their team area, Miss Tuia then put us into the actual game mode, but even though the yellow team got their first score, green team still won with working out and teamwork ( The score was 5 – 4 a close game) but I really loved playing because it was really good to get outside and just have fun

My second rotation was after morning tea which was arts with Whaea –  and Ms – and we were writing/drawing the answers/question or drawing what would you do but it depends on which star you are writing/drawing for, like for example I turn to a page where Pohutukawa says to write/draw a picture of a symbol or a picture of someone who has passed away and you miss and love them so much then you either draw or write the symbol of the person you miss now and forever, I drew a green heart stone necklace which is kind of about my grandpa that I will miss.

After we finished writing/drawing on all the pages we then had to take a plate and a paper with a list filled with objects that you need to find but you get to be in a pair, I was in a pair with my friend Mielia, me and Mielia got our pencil and grabbed a plate to put the objects on it and the list for the objects we needed to find.

The first object me and Mielia found was a small pine cone, the next thing we found was a stick which was definitely the easiest to find, the third thing we found was a piece of rubbish which I thought we wouldn’t actually find but we did.

We then went back to class to see which pair had the most objects.

When I looked at my paper plate I started to see some small insects on it, I already knew it was coming from the small pine cone I had on my paper plate and I thought that was something unexpected to the list, I then saw that Mielia had a small spider on her plate and that would probably be her unexpected object.

At the end of the rotation Ms – made all of us ice cream for doing a really good job at finding at least 5-8 things.

Whaea – also gave us some clay but we got to choose what colour we would like, I chose the colour yellow.

We all then quietly got back to class to have our lunch.

And that was me for the matariki rotation:)
