Task description:On Monday 16th October Room 10 had a challenge a marshmallow challenge.

Recount: Marshmallow Challenge

WALT: structure a recount using detailed and descriptive language.
When people read this recount they should feel interested and excited. This week we have been finding out all our new topic for the term and you are going to create a recount about a fun marshmallow challenge that we did as a class. Remember to use this helpful hints presentation to help you.

 

Introduction	First we had to get in groups. Room 10 took really fast to look for a group. Then Miss Parrant shuffled the groups to different tables. Second, we did a marshmallow challenge. The equipment was 10 marshmallows and 20 spaghetti. We weren’t allowed to eat it (That is really obvious) We had fifteen minutes to build the highest marshmallow tower. Third we saw who had the highest tower and the Judge was Miss Parrant but she asked us what it was meant to be or look like. Then Miss Parrant talked to all the groups she told us to come sit on the mat. Miss Parrant then asked us how we built our tower.

→ This morning room 10 had to do a challenge. It is called the MARSHMALLOW CHALLENGE even though there was Spaghetti for this challenge.

Our beautiful teacher MISS PARRANT gave us a very challenging game (even though it is a challenge) . The aim of the challenge is that you have ten marshmallows and twenty Spaghetti lines. 

This is what the spaghetti we used looked like.

You have to make a tower with twenty spaghetti and ten marshmallows. It doesn’t have to be the eiffel tower or any other tower.

And you have to be with a group of three or more. I only worked with two people.

And Miss Parrant said “Whoever has the highest marshmallow tower wins.”

Miss Parrant gave us five minutes to think of what kind of tower we are going to build.

My small group had different ideas, my friend Kayla thought of making a square tower and I thought “Nah it is not going to be tall enough” my other friend Lina thought of a tower but she didn’t know how to describe it.

I thought of making a little bit of an eiffel tower and Kayla said “No that will be too HARD” I said “Ok”.

Next Miss Parrant yelled “TIME’S UP!” Every group looked at Miss Parrant, she then said “Ok now that you have discussed your tower it is now time for youses to start your tower, I will give you 15 minutes, you may start now” every table or group started building their tower.

When Miss Parrant started the timer we all exclaimed “Which idea are we doing!?” and then I thought of mixing me and Kayla’s idea together and making a square-ish looking eiffel tower.

I told my group what I had thought of and unfortunately Kayla went with my idea instead and I was like “Ok I see.”

So then we started building our eiffel tower but something was really odd, the bottom of the eiffel tower had like five legs at the bottom I knew this was not going well but Kayla saved the day she flipped the W3R1D eiffel tower but the thing was that is was still a little bit small like not tall ENOUGH.

So as Kayla saved the day we started building it taller and taller it kinda looked like a WHARE AKO which we didn’t want will we did want it but we needed like a taller tower than a whare ako so we added like the middle of the eiffel tower and then the top of it.

We started panicking because our Whare tower was starting to fall then Kayla asked Miss Parrant if we could hold our whare tower and she said “I will see” and that made me very confused because like the other team was holding there tower and Yi Yi,Nadi and Aie sorn’s tower was not even falling they didn’t even have to hold it they just watched it.

But we still were trying to finish our tower but then I looked at the tv and then I saw that there was only FIVE MORE MINUTES LEFT.

When I told my group that there were only five minutes left they started rushing even though our tower was already nearly done.

As the time went past, our tower was done.

When our tower was finished it was starting to tamble so then me and Kayla held it from the top so that it wouldn’t fall.

I was starting to panic because Kayla started eating the leftover noodles or spaghetti and she was holding the tower with one hand and Lina was just looking at us and looking at the time, and as the time went down, our spaghetti started bending so we had to hold the spaghetti that started bending.

And finally the time had finished but we still had to hold our Whare tower because Miss Parrant had to video us and had to see which tower was the highest tower. I thought it was us because we had to stand up and add more marshmallows and more spaghetti.

 

And that is the end of Room ten’s Marshmallow challenge (I am pretty sure that this will go on the news)
